haiku wednesday - March 5, 2008

This week's words are
rest
sidewalk
twice

twice past the fountain
close your eyes and rest now, love
sidewalk lullaby

it rained on me twice
waving this sign with no rest
sidewalk to nowhere

chemo twice, no rest
I trudge, slow and pained, to death
sidewalk to heaven

sidewalk twice traversed
said sorry and all the rest
she still locked me out

you seem to just pen these things effortlessly.. and that one you left in the comment was stellar as well!!

All of these are exceptional..I loved the soothing nature of the first one. And the one about chemo hit home very much -- I was very positive about my chemo -- so I would have said if I'd written it (which I didn't!) that the sidewalk was to wellness...I've never seen my chemo or cancer as a negative towards death -- I've seen the chemo as another chance at life. But you capture emotion well!

sidewalk lullaby - lovely!!

Evoked emotion in all of them! Love the phrase, "sidewalk lullaby".

paisley, I wish they were effortless. LOL. Actually, they do come pretty quickly but then later I think of ways they could have been so much better.

sherry~cherie, thanks for the kind words! I am glad to hear your chemo was successful. I have a very close friend and mentor who has terminal cancer, and I fear we are approaching the end cycle. I've had a lot of terminal cancer in my larger circle of friends in recent years. Too much. I love to hear the stories of survival.

aerin and marcia, thanks for dropping by! Glad you liked my favorite line.

I really like the first haiku. Love the phrase "sidewalk lullaby".

Yeah, ditto for me on the sidewalk lullaby.

Nice haiku and light verse... but no My Town Monday for you? For the life of me, I cannot figure out what the thursaday thirteen is...

#1 & #4 are my picks. I also love the sidewalk lullaby. Nicely done.

Great verses - especially the first

I like the first haiku - kind of sweet. I agree with Paisley - you do write these with no effort at all.

pam and truefaith, thanks! seems like that phrase was a popular one

josephine: "my town monday"? I'll have to go figure out what that is. Thursday Thirteen is something else I used to do but then found I didn't have enough time to keep going.

kat, good to see you here! I love seeing your dual posts on Wednesdays.

lissa, nice of you to drop by. the great thing about blogs is that they appear effortless most of the time. It's like when I was helping to rebrand a startup company. We came up with three concepts, but no one knew how many ended up in the trash before we showed the three we liked.

I liked the first one very much. The third one is close too. One of my friends, you see...

Oh my the second one... heartbreaking.

Quite a range of emotions in just four haikus.

I liked the "sidewalk to heaven" line best.
