lunch in the plaza

I am a big fan of hawks in the city. They keep the pigeon population in check. This guy was just chowing down outside the Rincon Center in San Francisco at lunchtime today.

it is so funny that you would post this today... yesterday two mexican girls i work with were scared to death all day as they had seen a hawk on the way into work,, and in their culture it is bad luck!!!! where i live... in the hills of the west marin coast if we didn't have hawks and the like we would be over run with vermin... so i for one love them.....

is that hawk eating a pigeon right there??? wow - i bet that was a sight to see during lunch. Of course that's probably where all the discerning hawks go to eat lunch, lol

great shot! A few weeks ago I watched a sharp-shinned hawk eating a bird on our back fence, in the middle of urban Portland, OR. I kind-of hope the lunch was one of the starlings that chases native songbirds away from our feeder.
