- Because it can never be repeated enough: 3,434 and counting
- This daily sight on my commute grows more confounding every day, and not because I disagree with its message.
- 400,000 died in World War II
- Those who suffered through a confusing period of our country.
- Still one of the greatest self-sacrifice heroism stories in our country's heritage.
- Not all soldiers bear arms. Some find the pen is mightier than the sword.
- 115,000 died in the trenches of hell in World War I.
- What a tragedy the Civil War was.
- Women: are they really the "weaker sex"?
- A group I don't know enough about.
- Abraham Lincoln: "What constitutes the bulwark of our own liberty and independence? It is not our frowning battlements, our bristling sea coasts, the guns of our war steamers, or the strength of our gallant and disciplined army. These are not our reliance against a resumption of tyranny in our fair land. All of them may be turned against our liberties, without making us stronger or weaker for the struggle. Our reliance is in the love of liberty which God has planted in our bosoms. Our defense is in the preservation of the spirit which prizes liberty as the heritage of all men, in all lands, every where. Destroy this spirit, and you have planted the seeds of despotism around your own doors."
- There are many good reasons he's called The Father of Our Country.
- And I also want to honor those currently serving, particularly my friends Chris and Rob and, possibly somewhere in the Marines, Jim.

Very interesting list.
Happy TT!
My list is at http://mrshand.livejournal.com
I just surfed about fifteen Thursday Thirteens I hadn't visited before, and I was struck by an odd coincidence. It seems there are a lot of God-related bloggers out there (a lot of "we are blessed" and "God loves us" which is nice I guess) and a lot of erotic romance writers. I wonder what it is that draws those two groups in particular to the Thursday Thirteen meme? I dunno, I'm just sayin' is all.
Wow. Great list and great links, too!! I've been clicking and going through the sites. I'm surprised, I've been to a lot of TTs today and this is the first Memorial Day related one I've come across.
I actually thought to do one, but I figured that's what everyone else would do! Go figure, right????
There's always next week :)
Happy TT! Jessica The Rock Chick
