Robin has once again coerced us all, via her superb and unyielding charm, to
post our own voices reading our own work. Below is an audio only rendition of a poem I wrote a while back called "Cold and Bitter." I blogged the text of it
before, but
Julaina convinced me to change the last line. I'm glad she did.
That's a fun poem and I love your voice.
ReplyDeleteI surely have some talented blogger pals.
ReplyDeleteBursting with charm and wonderfully fluid.
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff. Terrific reading!
ReplyDeleteAhhh! Pete, I can't see the podbean thing to click. I see 'powered by podbean', but no podbean itself. I'm gonna leave the blog and come back and see if that fixes it...
ReplyDeleteSorry, Robin. I don't know what was wrong. Firefox and Safari both showed it OK, but Internet Explorer didn't. It should work now.
ReplyDeleteYAY! I was able to listen to that wonderful reading voice of yours, and I can see them there, Bitter and Cold, speaking to one another. I agree with freddie- great stuff!
ReplyDeleteThat's terrific; a fun poem, well read!
ReplyDeleteTee hee. I loved that. Especially when Cold talks about her attempts at flirting by winking. Ah, love. Or not, in this case. And your reading was perfect ; )
ReplyDeleteYour poetry always has such energy and flow! Really well done, I enjoyed this reading very much! I can't remember what the old last line was (though I did read it yesterday), but the new one works very well.
ReplyDeletefairyhedgehog--thank you for being the first and for saying you love my voice. Is it the accent?
ReplyDeletepaca--right back atcha. I am not sure I will ever have the courage to sing on video, though.
whirl--fluid charm, very high praise sir! Thank you.
freddie--thank you!
robin--aw, shucks, "wonderful." (she called my voice "wonderful"!)
koala--glad you thought the poem fun. That's what I'm hoping for!
kiersten--I wondered if anyone would like the winking bit. Thanks!
chris--I'm thrilled you enjoyed it. Thanks for the kind words!
I've held off on commenting all day because I'm not quite sure what I want to say. Other than I love the poem, of course.
ReplyDeleteAs far as voice thingies go: I expect this titan of corporate America, who dresses up in dapper suits but can still hula-hoop, and yet your voice is rhythmic and soft, gentle even. I would definitely think you sing tenor?
Hey, did you see Jason's opening the new contest on July 8?
Aerin, I am more naturally a baritone than a tenor. The high end of tenor is actually out of my range (especially now that I'm older).
ReplyDeleteThanks for the pointer about Jason's contest. I saw the link on Chris' blog today, too. Looking forward to it!
Fun indeed! But I also think you have an old soul in a young(ish) body. It has a "yesterday" style and cadence. I miss that, and this poem reminds me why I do.
ReplyDeleteSo glad my curiousity lead me to this! I loved it...
