Intriguing words today. Possibly more appropriate for an election year, but really they're a timeless combination.
darkness--panic grips
deception expertly laid
surprise birthday scheme
she's just an old friend
no deception, no scheme here
can't soothe your panic
make them panic, fear
lies, deception, and untruths
our war scheme won't fail
And as always, you've done a fine job with the words. I like the second one best.
